We told you tap water was all you needed
Working at Crossroads a few weeks ago, I had a few conversations about our Tanit Revolubar cleaning and foaming hand soap tabs. Several of you told me how much you LOVED them, especially the degreaser, and others I spent some real time trying to convince that this little tab and their own tap water were all they needed to get the clean they both needed and deserved.
Tab-based products are a huge part of our market and refillery strategy. They save both money and energy by not shipping water around the country needlessly.
One of the products you've all come to love and adore is the Foaming Hand Soap Tabs from Tanit, along with their beautiful glass bottle, and the cleaning tabs as well.
Sub-branded under Revolubar, Tanit's hand soap and cleaning tabs let you pick up 300ml of foaming hand soap in a convenient tab form, individually wrapped in a compostable package.
It's a super concentrated formula. You drop it into water, wait for it to dissolve, then give it a little swirl. Presto change-o, your tap water has become a luxurious foaming hand soap or a powerful natural cleaner.
Because I like to be environmentally friendly as well as economically friendly, let's do some math.
Foaming hand soap is mostly water, even more so than your standard liquid soap, hence the foaming.
1. A 1L bottle of foaming hand soap from a mountain-based soap company we all know and love will set you back $49. That fills your 300mL dispenser just over 3 and a third times, so about $14.70 per fill, and you're left with an empty bottle that will likely still end up in a landfill.
2. You stop by the store and grab 3 tabs, which fill your 300mL dispenser 3 times. Each tab costs only $5, so you fill your bottle 3 times for almost the same price as your one fill from our friends out west. Five amazing fragrances and an unscented one to choose from.
Let's move on to cleaners.
Many people ask me about another brand of cleaners that's become popular in the last few years, from over on the west coast. Let's call them "Mojito."
From what I've heard, fantastic product, but they've recently ditched their glass bottles for plastic. Their bottle will cost you about $14, a decent price for an all-natural cleaner, and if you buy their refill pack, we're looking at $48 for a concentrated liquid refill that will fill your bottle 8 times. Solid math, and not a bad deal, but option 2 is even better.
Save the bottle you already have, or grab one of our glass ones if you need to, and buy a $4 concentrated tab to mix with the tap water you already have handy. You can choose from All Purpose (scented or unscented), Glass and Mirror Cleaner (unscented only, for a streak-free shine), or Grease + Grime Cleaner (scented or unscented).
Say you like to clean A LOT and want to match Mojito's 8-time refill pack. That's only $32, and you can spread the love across two other formulas instead of being stuck with just the All Purpose cleaner on hand. Same neat little individual wrapper sitting in your green cart. No plastic. No fuss.
Now, do we have some fancy bottles you can buy from Tanit if you're into that? Sure. You'll have a one-time upfront cost to look good while you clean, but if that's not important to you, you can get the same clean in a repurposed bottle you already have, and save it from the landfill.
At the end of the day, it's the same math every time. Less water shipped, less plastic tossed, and the same clean you already love. Tabs just get you there without the extra weight, extra cost, or extra bottle.
