Building Greenbriar: A Journey of Passion, Partnership, and Purpose

When the pandemic forced many to slow down and rethink their paths, we saw an opportunity to bring a long-held dream to life. On a recent episode of That Entrepreneur Show, Mat and I had the chance to share how Greenbriar Market + Refillery went from an idea to a thriving business rooted in sustainability and community.
From Idea to Impact
I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit—since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to run my own business. Mat, on the other hand, came from a world of outside sales, where success meant building strong relationships and taking ownership of his work. Together, our experiences and skill sets complemented each other in a way that made this journey possible.
In 2021, we launched Greenbriar Market as an online shop, carefully curating products that were both effective and genuinely sustainable. But we quickly realized that what we were building was more than just a marketplace—it was a community. That realization led us to open our first brick-and-mortar location in Calgary, a space where people could not only shop but also learn, connect, and feel confident in their sustainable choices.
