Girls’ Night Out at the Holiday Wreath Workshop: Laughter, Creativity, and Local Treasures
Last night, I did something I haven’t done in ages—I hit pause on work, gathered a few girlfriends, and embraced the holiday spirit at the "Wine & Design: Fresh Holiday Wreath Workshop" hosted at the cozy Greenbriar Market + Refillery.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was magical. With a welcome mocktail in hand (cocktails for some!), we explored the beautifully curated shop featuring products crafted primarily by Alberta-based entrepreneurs. Shawn, one of our wonderful hosts, shared that many of the businesses featured are women-owned—a detail that, as a female entrepreneur myself, made me re-fall in love with this shop even more. Supporting local, especially women-led ventures, always feels so rewarding.Â
The store was a feast for the senses—artisan products, delectable charcuterie, and the gentle hum of festive music in the background. I managed to check a few items off my Christmas shopping list, snagging stocking stuffers that I know my family will love. You can’t beat the $10 gift card you receive as soon as you’re greeted!
When it was time to get creative, we all gathered around one big table, creating a sense of camaraderie and community. The laughter started almost immediately as we sorted through greenery, realizing who among us had a natural knack for crafting and who needed a bit more “guidance”. Luckily, Andrea from Lily and Vine Co.—a true professional and the evening’s teacher—was there to save the day. Her kind and patient demeanor kept us relaxed and confident. She even helped us finesse the final touches, ensuring our wreaths looked like they were made by pros.
The energy was infectious, and the evening turned into much more than just a crafting session. It was a chance to reconnect—with each other, with our creativity, and with the joy of doing something purely for ourselves. And the result? A gorgeous wreath I proudly brought home to my guys, who were genuinely impressed (and trust me, that’s no small feat).
For me, the evening was a reminder of the magic that happens when you step away from the grind to embrace something joyful and creative. It wasn’t just a workshop; it was an experience—a blend of self-care, community connection, and support for local talent.
So, here’s to more nights like this—nights that remind us to laugh, to learn, and to celebrate the season surrounded by inspiring people and incredible local businesses.
Can’t wait for the next event!
